SBAC Bank Holds Business Development Conference-BIZCON 2025

The Annual Business Development Conference-BIZCON 2025 of SBAC Bank PLC. was inaugurated by the Chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors, Engr. Md. Moklesur Rahman, as the Chief Guest. The conference took place on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Le Méridien Hotel in the capital. The event was presided over by the bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Habibur Rahman.

Distinguished Guests included Board of Directors Mohammad Nazmul Huq, Mohammad Mahbubor Rahman, Mohammad Helal Uddin, Md. Emdadul Hoque and Mushfiqur Rahman. Independent Directors Prof. Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker FCMA and Ziaur Rahman Zia FCA were also present. The business session was conducted by the bank’s Deputy Managing Directors, Md. Altaf Hossain Bhuyan and Md. Nazimuddoula. Senior Executives, Divisional Heads, Branch Managers, and In-Charge of Sub-Branches participated in the conference.

During the event, it was revealed that by the end of 2024, SBAC Bank’s total deposits stood at 9,600 crore BDT, while loans amounted to 8,768 crore BDT. The bank recorded an operating profit of 301 crore BDT, compared to 210 crore BDT in the previous year. The paid-up capital of the bank currently stands at 824 crore BDT.

Addressing the conference, Chairman Engr. Md. Moklesur Rahman stated that despite various global and domestic challenges in the banking sector in recent years, SBAC Bank has successfully maintained financial stability. He emphasized that the bank did not face any liquidity crisis and customers were able to withdraw funds as needed. He credited the Bank’s Management Team for their efficiency and dedication, which contributed to sustainable financial growth.

He further stated that the Board of Directors has consistently supported strategic planning and policy formulation. Rather than solely focusing on profit maximization, the bank prioritizes good governance and regulatory compliance. Ensuring deposit security is a top commitment, he urged bankers to move beyond traditional mindsets and embrace innovative ideas to foster entrepreneurship and job creation. The bank aims to prioritize loans for agriculture, SMEs, and women entrepreneurs, alongside remittance collection and foreign trade expansion.

He reiterated that customer satisfaction is the bank’s top priority and emphasized, "Depositors are the true owners of the bank, and we are merely custodians entrusted with safeguarding their interests." He also pledged to expand Islamic banking services while strictly adhering to Shariah principles.

Managing Director Habibur Rahman highlighted the bank’s rapid expansion, noting that SBAC Bank has successfully established 90 branches, 32 sub-branches, and 37 agent banking outlets across the country. The bank has structured Deposit and Loan products based on customer needs and actively participates in Import-Export financing. With Correspondent banking relationships with 202 banks worldwide, SBAC Bank has emerged as a leading collector of remittances among contemporary banks.

To enhance customer convenience, the bank offers Mobile Wallet Service (BanglaPay), Internet & Online banking, and Debit-Credit card facilities for seamless transactions. Looking ahead, the bank has outlined a strategic plan for expanding foreign trade operations, ensuring quality loan disbursement, and strengthening loan recovery efforts in the new year.
